Whether you are an Android phone user, tablet lover, or interested in Wear OS watches, this update is especially for you.
Google has recently announced that it will be rolling out a wide range of new features for Android users. In the previous post, we updated you about Google Messages introducing text 911 with RCS and now it is working on delivering a better hotspot experience. Many more such updates are soon going to roll out, as per our source.
Google is releasing two new features under the “cross-device services” – Instant Hotspot and Call Casting.
It would function just as Apple is currently running across all of its devices, which are tied to a single account. In this instance, all you have to do to proceed is ensure that the same Google account is logged in on each of your devices.
More about the New Features
Google is optimizing the process of creating hotspots and linking them. If you are a workaholic and often rely on mobile hotspots even while traveling or at parties, this is a much-needed move. Google will be referring to the improved technology as “Instant Hotspot“. As and when the feature will roll out, users will have to no longer deal with the inconvenience of typing passwords or scanning QR codes.
Similarly, users will be able to seamlessly switch between their Android devices and browser-connected devices during audio or video calls with Google Meet.
Another update that is soon going to launch is the stand-alone home screen widgets for controlling smart home equipment. One of the best features to improve and upgrade quality-of-life. Currently undergoing preview testing, this feature will soon be available as the Google Home Favorites widget. The goal is to eliminate the need for you to open the Google Home app in order to perform basic tasks like dimming the lights or lowering the thermostat. Comparably, Wear OS users will soon be able to complete the same task from their wristwatch thanks to the addition of the Google Home Favorites tile and complication.
PayPal is now integrated into the Google Wallet app for Wear OS users in the United States and Germany, enabling contactless payments using a smartwatch. For some time now, Samsung has been providing a comparable feature on its Galaxy smartwatches.
Some small features are also soon going to roll out.
Google keeps releasing new emoji combinations to their fantastic Emoji Kitchen, where users can mix and match different emojis to create brand-new, hilarious, or ominous creations. The disco ball and headphones emojis are two new additions to the Kitchen.
Also, digital car keys are available for “selected” MINI automobiles and will soon be extended to certain Mercedes-Benz and Polestar models.
