Google already displays insights on air quality in multiple ways across the web, but now it is also rolling out this feature in Weather Card in search results.
You must have noticed on searching for weather on your mobile devices, you generally get a Weather Frog that highlights all the details, including the temperature, existing condition, Humidity, Wind, and more. But now, a new title has been updated – “Air Quality“ right at the bottom of your screen with the current status. However, it seems that the experiment is not active for all countries but is expected to be available soon.
Unfortunately, in this section, you will not be able to view the real AQI number or any other information, which generally appears along with a map when you search for air quality.
Both, the mobile browser and the Google app for iOS and Android have this available. Additionally, it is missing from desktop Search, which has an alternative, non-Froggy layout.
However, if you have noticed the AQI is quite visible in the Discover carousel, in At a Glanceas well as Google Maps’ Corner Weather Card.
On Android, however, the fullscreen Weather experience does not take into account the current state of the air. After a significant revamp last year, Google hasn’t updated it with any new features. We want Google to create a specialized weather app for Android that has capabilities like radar and more widgets, in part because of this.
