Yahoo has recently launched it’s revamped messenger app for Windows and Mac, the app was launched on mobile and the Web at the end of last year. The new Yahoo messenger platform allows you with a fast and easy way to send and unsend not only messages, but also photos and animated GIFs. The app come with drag and drop feature to share multiple photos at once.
The most unique feature that the latest platform features is ‘unsend’ button within the application to unsend a message, photo, or GIF. That means, when you unsend a message, the content will be removed for everyone in the conversation in real time. However, Yahoo retains copies and logs for audit and record purposes or as required by law and that’s not wrong in a way.
Now if you have send a message to the wrong person and realized the mistake after hitting the send button. Then don’t worry about it if you are on the Yahoo messenger. The unsend feature of the revamped Yahoo platform can help avoid an embarrassing moment by taking back what you sent. How to unsend a message, photo or GIF in Yahoo messenger
Yahoo messenger for iOS and Android devices:
- Step 1: Tap the message, picture, or GIF you want to unsend.
- Step 2: Tap Unsend (the unsend option will pop up after selecting the message).
- Step 3: Tap Unsend message to confirm.
Yahoo messenger for desktop and web:
- Step 1: Take the Mouse cursor over the message, picture, or GIF you want to unsend. You will see an Unsend icon
. - Step 2: Click the Unsend icon .
- Step 3: Click Unsend to confirm.
Yahoo messenger in Yahoo mail:
- Step 1: Take the Mouse cursor over the message, picture, or GIF you want to unsend. You will see an Unsend icon .
- Step 2: Click the Unsend icon .
- Step 3: Click Remove to confirm.
It’s all done for you! your message, photo or GIF will be removed from the receivers end in real time.
Note: Yahoo still suggests to think before you share any messages, photos or GIFs. Because they are sent immediately and no one can guarantee the recipients won’t see the message before you unsend it (they may be online all the time).
There are some exceptions you should notice:
- Notifications of new messages aren’t taken back. By checking their notifications anyone will know you sent something and removed it from the conversation. Also, they can read push notification snippets of unsent messages.
- Unsend doesn’t work with someone who still using the previous version of Yahoo Messenger.
- If someone receives a message or photo from you and goes offline before you unsend it, they’ll still be able to see the content until they go back online.
- Your friends may be quicker than you and they could copy or save or take a screenshot of the content (including photos) before you unsend. So unsend as soon as you can if you want to.
