New updates from Google Home App are coming your way. After the new Android homescreen widget and Wear OS Tile, we have Pixel Tablet Doorbell Alerts on the way.
The tablet now has the ability to view and speak with guests at your front door; this is a functionality that was missing when the gadget was first released.
According to Google, the $400 Pixel Tablet can now view a livestream from a Nest video doorbell, allowing you to respond quickly or speak with whoever is at the front door.
Google also confirmed that the Google Home Widget will allow automations very soon. You must be enrolled in the Public Preview program to access the version (3.18) of the Play Store that includes the Favorites widget.
You no longer need to utilize the website to generate clips; just set the start time and duration in the Google Home app, then download them straight to your mobile device. It will be displaying more details about sensors and compatible devices on the device page.
Now that two-way talk and quick response are supported, the Pixel Tablet will finally “show you who’s at the front door when they ring the doorbell.” For a full screen live view, Google states that the Pixel Tablet “must be locked and docked on the charging speaker dock.”
Additionally, a Nest Doorbell (battery or wired, first and second generation) is required. We haven’t quite figured out how to make this function, but it should now be in Public Preview. The Google Home app version 3.18 may also be required.
Google Home app now allows you to “adjust fan rotation, speed, and humidifier configurations all from your watch” on Wear OS. Not all devices have received the update yet, which also includes device complications and the Favorites Tile.
