The most recent version of Threads for Android now supports Android’s predictive back gesture, which makes it easier to figure out where you’ll go back in the interface.
The current beta phase of Android has shown that the predictive back gesture will be enabled by default when Android 15 launches later this year. Today’s Android 14 does not have this option. Even though Android 13 brought it back, compatible applications still need to have the Developer option toggle activated in order for the interface animation to be seen. By providing a preview of the screen you will return to, this feature aims to improve gesture-based navigation.
As mentioned, not many programs are available right now that support an upcoming feature. The OnBackPressedCallback and OnBackPressedDispatcher classes must be used by app developers to offer support. Google provides relevant documentation for using this feature into Android apps that run on Android 13 and later.
Among the most recent applications to add support for the predictive back gesture is Meta’s Threads. Now that the app is among the “Top 20” free apps in the Play Store, it’s a significant shift for one of the world’s fastest-growing social networks.

The interface animation has been integrated in Threads v332.0.0.34.109, which has been available through the Google Play Store for the previous few days. It is limited to smartphones that are running the Android 15 Beta or those have Android 13 and higher installed with the Developer option toggled on.
This makes the platform’s articles and information more easier to navigate through, making an already seamless interface feel even more luxurious.
The photo-sharing website still doesn’t have the predictive back gesture, even if it is connected to Instagram. On the other hand, the option functions flawlessly on the most recent stable release for Android smartphones.
