Twitter now wants to make you famous with those blue budge which represents a verified account. In a campaign to engage more users with the micro blogging website, Twitter has created an online application process for Twitter accounts to receive verified status that will grant them the privilege of the blue check mark. In short, Twitter is opening the blue check mark to everyone.
The verification badge is a little blue symbol – actually a white tick on a blue background – a sign of official account and has traditionally been reserved for users considered “official”, such as celebrities, public figures and organizations.
“We want to make it even easier for people to find creators and influencers on Twitter so it makes sense for us to let people apply for verification,” said Tina Bhatnagar, Twitter’s vice president of User Services. “We hope opening up this application process results in more people finding great, high-quality accounts to follow, and for these creators and influencers to connect with a broader audience,” she added.
