One of our consumers was able to obtain information about the Walmart Onn “Pro” Google TV box, including its pricing, specifications, and support for Google Assistant speakers, which was supposed to launch later this month.
In the Android TV OS market, Walmart is well-known for providing low pricing on amazing streaming devices. However, a new video unboxing has clearly unveiled the new “Pro” Google TV device that Walmart is getting ready to launch.
SuperDell-TV, a YouTube channel that promotes cord cutting events, was able to obtain two Walmart Onn Pro Google TV boxes so early. As per the packaging, the product cost was only $50. Also, it was priced at $50 when it first appeared on store shelves. That is more than twice as much as the current Walmart 4K Google TV streaming stick.
This is not a stick or dongle; it’s a streaming box. It has a fabric design with inbuilt far-field microphones that rests on your console. Together with the normal HDMI port, the device’s back panel also features an Ethernet port and a full-size USB port.
The gadget has been upgraded internally as well. It has an Amlogic S905X4 chipset, which is slightly more efficient than the S905Y4 in the streaming stick, according to @AndroidTV_Rumor. Combining that with 32GB of storage—an increase from 8GB—and 3GB of RAM—an increase from 2GB. Once everything is set up, about 20GB are usable. Moreover, Android 12 is preinstalled on the tablet.
The ability to use this device as a Google Assistant speaker seems to be its main selling point. During setup, Google tells consumers that they may “use Google Assistant hands free” by flipping a button on the side of the device to turn off the microphone. Additionally, you may completely turn off the feature by going to Settings > Privacy > Google Assistant > Hands-free Mic.
Significantly, a button on the set-top box’s rear is mentioned as part of the “Find My Remote” feature, which allows the remote to play music. By using the Settings menu, you may also access it. All of Walmart’s other streamers use the same G10 remote control.
Walmart has not yet listed this item on its website, so it is unknown when it will be available. However, given its apparent $50 pricing, it appears to be a quite tempting device.
