WhatsApp to stop working on Nokia Symbian devices from December 31, 2016

One by one, modern services are ending support for Symbian. And finally, the exact end-of-life date for WhatsApp Symbian app announced by Facebook (owned WhatsApp).

As per a report by All About Symbian website.-

“WhatsApp will stop working on Symbian devices after December 31, 2016.”

WhatsAppMain reason behind this action is capability issue. WhatsApp  is expanding its features day by day but Symbian doesn’t offer those kind of capability, therefore WhatsApp is to end support for this platform at the end of this year.

WhatsApp’s official blog stated –

“They (platforms) don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future.”

Company has also announced that the availability of WhatsApp apps on PCs running Windows 8 and above, and Macs running OS X 10.9 and above. Similar to ‘WhatsApp Web,’ the desktop app is synced to WhatsApp on a user’s’ mobile device.The app can run natively on desktops and also support the features of desktop notifications, keyboard shortcuts and many more.
