YouTube Music Web App Now Saves Your Last Song and Queue

Earlier, the YouTube Music Web App introduced ‘Hum to Search’ Feature and now saves your last played song in its database for a quick resume. YouTube Music is constantly working on enhancing its features to get more support and attention from its audience. Guess, like other music platforms, YouTube Music is also trying to lead the competition.

The app is behaving more like Android and iOS applications with this new setting.

Previously, whenever a user used to exit music.youtube.com, it notified if something was playing by showing a message on the screen “would remove the miniplayer and reset”. But now, instead of sending any warning, the new setting stores your last song and keeps the docked player available for replay. In fact, your complete queue for Up Next is actually kept. This is true for playlists as well as albums.

However, the behavior on podcasts is a little strange. Like with songs, episodes are remembered, but users are not kept in the playback state (which YTM otherwise maintains track of). Instead, they are taken back to the beginning.

Though it makes sense to start songs at the beginning, this doesn’t work for live performances and is probably an inadvertent behavior that will be rectified in the coming period.

But still, what do you think of this new setting in YouTube Music Web App?
